The critics evaluation.

The most important art critics of the 20th century have written, commented and appreciated the works of Marcello Minotto.  These have included Bonardi, Borgese, Dell’Oro, Del Bono, Fattorelli, Giglio, Montanari, Nebbia, Negri, Passerella, Peracchio, Senesi, Viviani and Curzia Ferrari.
Below is a selection of the most interesting comments:

‘’We would like to tell Mr. Minotto, to cultivate his satisfaction for a smiling grace of  the represented things, sure to see one day a remarkable achievement unanimously recognized, as we believe that he follows in this way his true aspiration.
(Luigi Passerella, Gazzettino of Venice, 1935)

The sculptures show a great temperament. Minotto has a personality free from any influence. We are sure that this artist will grow’’.
(Dino Bonardi, La Sera, Newspaper, 1942)

‘’Minotto is a sculptor and an embosser. The embossing, for some people is the work of a craftsman, while for Minotto, it is something more and better. He does not carry out the work of pure embossing on drawings of the others, but he creates the subject directly which will then be completed in copper or silver’’.
(Giuseppe Negri, The Sculptor and the marble, Magazine, 1942)

‘’An Industrious Venetian artist, devoted to the culture of grace, harmony and kindness:  noble virtues expressed with dignity and passion’’.
(Raul Viviani, Magazine ‘The journal of art, 1948)

‘’During his 55 years of artistic activity, Marcello Minotto has been compared many times to a pupil  of Donatello (great  Italian Sculptor 1386/1466).  As a matter of fact, Marcello Minotto, as a sculptor, ‘looks to the truth’ to catch a certain synthesis  which does not, however, flow into stylism’’.
(Romano Fattorelli, Lombardia Notte, 1976)

‘’Sculptor of international fame, Marcello Minotto has effectively achieved in merging naturalism into realism, succeeding a transfiguration of men, animals and things, with highly poetic momentum’’.
(Antonino De Bono,  Arte più Arte, Magazine, 1978)

‘’The art of Marcello Minotto is thoughtful and crystalline, like the faces in his sculpture of young boys’’
(Emanuela Verdura, Magazine Milan International Art Exhibition 1980)

Marcello Minotto is very skillful in giving a refined execution of jewelry, in obtaining the silver from the embossing, which appears immaterial; it’s like the air which covers bodies and cloaked The Madonna, farmers and workers
Antonino de Bono , newspaper ‘’The Night’’ 1980

What counts in his research is the lyric value of the vision, founded in a remarkable technical ability.
He has renewed the classic art, joining the psychologic research of the characters, evidenced in the ancient and wise rhythmical Greek /Roman sculpture.
Antonino de Bono  newspaper ‘’The Night’’ 1980

The sculpture, manipulated by expert hands, is valuable work of a realistic genre, like touching the summit of an expressive truth, almost provocative, both in the complete figure and the busts, for which they mimic facial serenity, mournfulness, pain and everything.
Mario Portalupi,  newspaper The Night, 1982
